I have to say, Dawn, is really doing it this go 'round. One of the things that I was always able to accept about Dawn is that she is one to always RESPECT the situation she's in. So with Danity Kane, really geting out there and promoting personal ventures, wouldn't quickly been frowned upon. She would have been one of the girls on the chopping block for "doing her solo thing" while also in the group. So now that she's in DM, its easier for her to get out there and really do what she was MADE to do.
In this interview, she's talking about Danity Kane Comics. I admire her for really getting on her grind and really making things happen. *thumbs up* ;D
From Greedmont Park
GP: You’ve been working on this comic a long time, since Making the Band. How did this finally come about?
I’ve actually been working on the comic since high school. I’ve built this from the ground up.
GP: How did you choose the premise, storyline?
I chose obstacles everyone could relate to, but I chose an atypical heroine. She’s (Danity) is small and fragile and often feels she’s in over her head but she always rises to the occasion.
GP:. Was the anime theme your idea?
Yes it was. And I chose illustrators that do Manga for a clean look.
GP: How did you choose your team to execute the comic?
I wanted a company similar to mine. I’m small and independent and I wanted a company along those lines also so I wouldn’t be swallowed up into a large company or have the project pushed aside. It was a great challenge because a lot of these comic houses don’t accept non-Japanese companies.
GP: For those unfamiliar, explain the background story of the series and the main character.
Danity Kane is Slovakan and Pan Angelous. She is the product of when these two worlds collided and she is constantly in a struggle of which way to go and caught between the choices and forces of good and evil.
GP: Do you have plans to turn the series into an animated short?
Absolutely that is the goal and the dream. Danity Kane is just a def and super fly character and I would love to take this storyline as far as possible.
GP:Now the comic business is different from the music business. What have you learned in this particular creative process?
They are different but at the end of the day it’s still a business so it becomes very similar. It’s still competitive and large. Everyone has their tops and fav’s and when you’re new you have to break in. It’s like any other job or company.
